Smart doorbells aren’t too common yet but as home delivery becomes more popular, it’s only a matter of time until such technology catches on. The company Ring specializes in this field. Having already released a pretty popular doorbell, the Ring Pro is a step up with a more compact body and better quality camera.
This device has been incredibly useful in answering the door for deliveries when I’m not home and even letting me know when I should ignore the doorbell because of sales people visits.
Setup was incredibly easy thankfully, you don’t need to be too handy to get this setup with your existing doorbell wiring. Best of all, if your internet goes down then it’ll still operate like a regular doorbell.
Recordings are automatically saved into the cloud but it requires a subscription service. Unfortunately there is no option to save the recordings locally on your network. The only way to accomplish that is to pay for the cloud recording and then manually download the recordings afterwards. Recordings are started in a number of ways: when someone rings the doorbell, you can manually start recording or setting up sensor zones. Sensor zones are areas you can outline in the video feed, in motion that appears within the zone will automatically be recorded.
All the above details are shown along with more details in the video above.
