In this guide we’ll go over two ways to connect a PlayStation 5 controller to an Android device. The first and recommended method is wireless, and the second method is a wired method. I recommend the wireless method since it works great and you don’t have to deal with annoying cables.
Wireless Setup
- To put your PS5 controller into pairing mode, press and hold the “PS” Button and “Share” buttons on the controller until the controller lights start to flash. The flashing light means it’s in pairing mode.
Note: The next steps vary since different Android device manufacturers have different layouts for their Settings menu. My guide will use Samsung’s layout since they’re the most popular Android devices.
- Open the device’s main “Settings” menu and navigate to “Connections”.
- From here ensure that “Bluetooth” is on and in the Bluetooth section look for newly discovered devices and select “Wireless Controller” (that’s what the PS5 controller will be named).
That’s it!
Wired Method
You’ll need some sort of adapter since Android devices tend to have USB-C ports and one end of the PS5 cable is a USB-A fitting. It’s usually best to get a USB on-the-go (USB OTG) cable since that’s the most common type recognized by Android devices.
Keep in mind that the wired method isn’t guaranteed to work since some Android devices won’t recognize physically connected devices like the PS5 controller, it’s another reason I recommend the wireless method.
Simply plug the USB-C end of the PS5 controller cable into the controller, the USB-A side into the USB-C adapter, and the adapter into the Android device.
Connecting Back to PS5
To connect your PS5 controller back to your PS5 is fast and easy.
- Power on your PS5 console using the power button on the console.
- Take the PS5 USB cable, plug one end into your console and the other into the controller.
- Then press the PS button on the controller, now you can disconnect the USB cable and use your PS5 controller in wireless mode.
