Welcome to a quick guide on how to enter Safe Mode on your PlayStation 5 console.

Assuming you’ll want to factory reset your PS5, reinstall the OS, etc. then that’s why you want to enter Safe Mode. Warning: this is a delicate menu, fiddling with the wrong option could corrupt or damage your PS5 console.

Before doing anything in this menu, I highly recommend backing up your data first. You can find steps on how to do that in my PS5 factory reset guide here.

Entering Safe Mode

  1. Power down the console. While powered off, press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps. The first beep indicates the console turning on, the second beep indicates that you’re booting into safe mode.
  2. You should get a prompt to connect your DualSense controller to the PS5 console using a USB cable.
  3. You’ll be shown the Safe Mode menu.

That’s a wrap. Again, just be cautious on what you do in this menu.
