Welcome! In this post, you’ll be taught how to connect a PlayStation 5 controller to a Fire TV device. It’s incredibly easy but I want to provide a bit of notice that the Xbox controller works better on Android devices. As of this posting, the button mapping of the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller is horrible on a Fire TV device. For instance, on a Fire TV device X is to go back and square is to select, as you can see that’s not the same button mapping as on a PS5.
Connecting PS5 controller to a Fire TV device
-To enter pairing mode on the controller, simply press and hold the PS and share buttons for about 3 seconds, you’ll know it’s ready for pairing when the top bar flashes.
-On your Fire TV device open Settings – Remotes and Bluetooth Devices – Game Controllers – Add New Game Controller and select “wireless controller”.
-That’s it. You’ll know your Fire TV has paired with the controller if the light on the controller stops flashing and becomes a solid colour.
-At this point you can give it a quick test by using the controller to navigate the settings menu.
Note: To turn off the controller and save the battery when not in use, just press and hold the PS button on the controller for about 10 seconds. You’ll know it’s off when all lights turn off.
Connecting back to PS5
-Connect the controller to the PS5 using the USB cable that came with it.
-Tap the PS button on the controller.
-At this point, the controller is synced with the console again, you can now disconnect the USB cable, and you’re done!
